As everyone has probably seen, next up in RoB is another "raid" event. In these events you must find enemies and defeat them by using your ATK deck and ATK power; then calling for help from your order and fellows. This is the 3rd raid event in a row if I'm not mistaken, so Mobage must do alright selling HP packs and LCP during these things. People must buy the event specific cards thinking that the key to victory is dealing damage but it's
NOT. The Puppet Master Strikes Back was the only event where damage mattered since total damage was used to rank the players. The Elder Homunculus therefore, was essential to attain that goal. But for these raid event where you collect "Sylvan Berries", damage doesn't matter at all.
Here are the 2 basic terms that will be discussed readily in this post that you MUST know for the event:
- Combo - The key to defeating a monster. A combo is built with consecutive attacks on a monster within 30 minutes of the last attack. A combo can reach a maximum 500% damage bonus after 1000 hits.
- Invite - This button appears after you have fought a monster and it hasn't been defeated. This will call all fellows who are currently online and not currently engaged in 5 battles.
By making sure the combo is always active and inviting people to join in battles as often as possible, you will rank high in this event. Here are more specific tips to achieve that high ranking for this event:
- Don't attack with your full deck - There is nothing more wasteful than using a bunch of your ATK power to hit one monster when the idea is to defeat as many monsters as possible. If you use a full deck all the time, you will have to constantly use HP in order to keep attacking. There are a few exceptions to this rule that will be discussed later in the tips.
- Never let a combo expire - As I mentioned before, the combo is the key to defeating a monster. Letting a combo expire will not only drastically reduce the amount of damage you can do to a monster but it also deters other players from wanting to participate. There is no minimum attack to keep a combo going, using a goblin to get that one hit if you need to.
- Always invite your order/fellows to battle - This sounds like a no-brainer, but you would be surprised at how very few players will return to a battle to invite more people. After you first attack a monster, you'll be prompted to invite people to join the battle, ALWAYS DO THIS. But your work is not done... When you return to check on the combo to make sure it's active, you should check to see if you can invite more players in. If you are able to the invite button should be visible. Sometimes you will press the invite button and no one comes in. I like to refresh my screen, go back and try again. Remember, more people = bigger combo = more damage = less work/ATK power used by you.
- Prioritize bosses - Trust me, the event is going to start and you're gonna go bananas on the 7,500 hit point monsters and they will slowly get better and yada yada yada. Bottom line, the first week of any of these raid events are almost pointless. You get practically nothing in terms of points. For the second half of the event, Mobage will release some big bad boss that takes extra damage from some expensive card and that's when the real fun begins. This does not mean that you shouldn't use the strategies I listed above, on the contrary, PLEASE use them. I'm just pointing out when you have an urge to use an HP and replenish your attack day one then don't, it's entirely wasteful.
- Discoverer/Vanquisher - As mentioned before, there are a few exceptions when it comes to using a full deck. When you find and/or defeat a monster you gain bonus points; the bigger the boss, the bigger the points. So if you discover a LVL 300 special monster late in the event, you have to make sure this boss is defeated so you receive the extra bonus points. In this case, using your full deck to build the combo and convince people to participate is essential. Getting the final blow on a boss should work the same way. If you have the chance to finish the boss, use your full deck to deal maximum damage and get the vanquisher reward.
- Be active - Again, I'm not telling you anything here that you already didn't know but these raid events favor the players who participate more. I personally set a 20 minute timer on my watch and log in (when I'm able to) to extend the combo in all my battles and invite more people to battle with me. This is a sure fire way to score more points. On that same note, you won't be invited to other battles unless you are online or just recently offline. If you have less than 5 battles, be sure to stay logged in so that you can fill those battle slots. Who knows, maybe you'll be invited to a battle that's almost won and you can sneak in a quick attack for some easy points!!!
To summarize, stay active while extending combos using as little ATK power as possible and invite anyone and everyone to battle with you. This event shouldn't be much different, but there are few changes that may need to be monitored. For one, event skills proc different because 10 card decks are supposed to be used. This may mean we have to attack with a minimum of 3 card, no telling yet. Also, there is a break gauge that builds to perform a Rising Break and I have no idea what this could entail. Considering what happened last Holy Wars, I'm sure it will take a lot of attacks to fill a meter that when full unleashes a stronger attack than a normal attack would.... yay...... Shoot me any questions in the comments if you have them.
